Jorge

Update on Jorge: Thanks for praying! His surgery seems to have been a success; time will tell with his recovery, but his mother (named Margarita) and sister Reina were with him the last few days, and his grandmother is replacing his mom as she has to go back to work. It makes my heart glad to know that he actually has family helping take care of him. And his mom apparently recently re-committed her life to following Jesus and is going to church regularly, so hopefully there will be some lasting change in her heart and life. It is wonderful to see how God is continuing to work in their family, even through all these terrible trials.

For anyone medical who is reading this, Jorge has had congenital (meaning he was born with it) posturethral valves (like a narrowing of the hole) which caused reflux back up the ureters and into his kidneys for years, as well as urinary tract infections. He has known this diagnosis since April or May of 2005, but only now had the surgery to correct the congenital defect (and the dilation of the kidneys and ureters). His kidneys haven't been able to function normally, so we will have to wait and see how they recover. The human body is an amazing thing.
